Sam Surridge scored in the first half and Brian Schwake finished off his league-leading 12th clean sheet of the season as Nashville SC clinched a playoff spot and remained unbeaten at home with a 3-0 victory over the Chicago Fire on Saturday night.

Eastern Conference-leading Nashville lead the Supporters’ Shield race and are the only team in the league unbeaten at home with 12 wins in 13.

Surridge staked Nashville to a 1-0 lead in the 33rd minute and it stood through half-time. Cristian Espinoza added an insurance goal in the 78th minute and Hany Mukhtar scored in the 87th to set the final margin.

It was the 16th goal of the campaign for Surridge, the fourth for Espinoza and the 11th for Mukhtar as the whole frontline for Nashville found the net.

Schwake, a 25-year-old first-year starter, notched one save and has surrendered only 21 goals through 26 starts.

Epic Sporting KC collapse gives Philadelphia Union a 4-3 comeback victory

Bruno Damiani, teenager Cavan Sullivan and Milan Iloski all scored over a five-minute span of the second half for Philadelphia, and the Union used an own goal to beat Sporting Kansas City 4-3 on Saturday night and extend their unbeaten streak to 11 with a fifth straight victory.

Philadelphia are the fifth team in MLS history to win a match after trailing by three goals. Orlando City pulled off the feat earlier this season in a 4-3 victory over Inter Miami.

Sporting KC’s André Luiz scored in the fifth minute and again five minutes later to give the home side a 2-0 lead. Defender Wyatt Meyer used his head to score his first career goal in the 16th minute for a 3-0 advantage that stood through half-time.

Damiani started the Union rally in the 64th minute with his career-high eighth goal in his second season. Sullivan, 16, cut it to 3-2 two minutes later with his seventh goal – using assists from Danley Jean Jacques and older brother Quinn Sullivan. Cavan Sullivan also has 12 assists this season after not contributing to a goal through his first 14 appearances after debuting in 2024.

Iloski scored his career-best 13th goal in his first full season with the Union – unassisted in the 68th minute to tie it 3-3. Philadelphia got some help on an own goal by Zorhan Bassong in the 73rd minute to complete the comeback.

The Union have scored 14 goals in their last three matches after posting back-to-back 5-0 victories over FC Cincinnati and San Diego FC. They haven’t lost since a 6-4 road loss to Inter Miami that left last in the Eastern Conference at the end of May.

The Sounders are winless in 13 straight but unbeaten in their last five.

Morgan Whittaker scored his first two MLS goals and Donavan Phillip also scored his first career goal for Colorado.

Clark, near the top of the penalty arc, skipped a shot past diving goalkeeper Nico Hansen and inside the left post for his first goal since 2024 for Montreal. Clark, a 23-year-old midfielder, was acquired on 1 September in a trade with DC United.

Marco Reus the key in LA Galaxy’s win over Minnesota United

Marco Reus had a goal and an assist, João Klauss and Pablo Ruiz also scored a goal, and the LA Galaxy beat Minnesota United 3-2 on Saturday night.

Minnesota have lost four straight and are winless in their last five.

Reus played a free kick from near the left end line to the near post, where Klauss flicked a header inside the back post into the side-net in the 76th minute, then redirected a cross played into the area by Lucas Calegari into the net to give the Galaxy a 3-2 lead in the 80th.

Marcus Caldeira scored in the 23rd minute and Kelvin Yeboah converted from the penalty spot to give Minnesota a 2-1 lead in the 30th minute. Yeboah has scored in three consecutive games and has six of his 14 goals this season in the past six matches.

Ruiz, acquired on 3 September from Real Salt Lake in exchange for $400,000 in 2027 general allocation money, scored his first goal since 2023 to give LA a 1-0 lead in the 12th minute.
