Jimmy Kimmel spoke about Donald Trump’s fawning cabinet and how his ascent to the White House is now being emulated by another desperate reality TV star.
On Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the host said that as Trump is now depressed given his falling approval rating and the war in Iran, he “assembled team circle jerk for an emergency tongue bath”.
The president pulled members of his cabinet for a meeting in which they told him how great he is, footage of which Kimmel then played.
He joked that even if you don’t like Bill Clinton, “at least when his staff blew him, he didn’t make us watch”.
Trump’s approval rating is down to 37%, but Kimmel said in that room, it was “hovering at around 110”.
One of the attenders was former Fox News host and defense secretary Pete Hegseth, who is a “bigger screwup than Eric” after he had to cancel the deployment of troops in Poland when he received an angry phone call from Trump saying that wasn’t “the country he was mad at”. Instead it was Germany.
Kimmel said that “Poles were angry and confused” and joked “what a time to be alive” with Hegseth and Kash Patel, the FBI director, “literally making drunk history every day”.
This week also saw Kimmel get into an online spat with RFK Jr. The health secretary fell for a parody post and shared it online, claiming that late-night comedy was at its “nader” which led Kimmel to respond with “it’s ‘nadir’, dummy, now get back to spreading polio”.
Kimmel’s response was then ridiculed on Fox News by the hosts and their guest Jillian Michaels, best known for being on The Biggest Loser reality show. “Trump raided that network to fill his cabinet positions and now there’s nobody left to be on it,” Kimmel said.
He also spoke about the race to become LA mayor with former reality TV star Spencer Pratt campaigning. Kimmel said he is best known as being “the screaming jerk on reality shows”, yet he now has an estimated 22% of potential votes.
“Even though he himself probably doesn’t want to be mayor,” Kimmel said, adding that “he wants to be a star again” and “it’s exactly what Donald Trump did”.
He said Trump only campaigned “because his TV show was gonna get canceled and he wanted to be relevant again” and that “the difference between Donald Trump and this guy is Donald Trump actually had a job before he was on a reality show”.
Kimmel said we are now “digging out of this giant hole he put us in” and that “this hole has given birth to Spencer Pratt” who is just “another narcissist looking for attention”.
The host said that “mayor should not be your first job” and anyone who doesn’t want to vote for Karen Bass should find “somebody who isn’t wasting our time and money to get back on television”.
